Panel series: Safe(R) care while our hearts are breaking – Middle East focus

May 16, 2024 — In the first session of an ongoing series of panels, social workers are invited to explore how practicing self-care for themselves also contributes to safety for the people they serve. This session brings together panelists connected to the Middle East, whether they have lived in the region themselves or are connected through culture and descent.


[CANCELLED] Trauma-Informed Social Work Practice (New Minas)

The purpose of the workshop is to build trauma awareness by reviewing common definitions, types, and impacts of trauma as well as exploring research. The workshop will explore the key principles of trauma informed care and how they can be applied to generalist social work settings. The sessions will also review how social workers are impacted by trauma and how to mitigate the effects of working in trauma exposed environments.
